Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters...

5 of mine, 4 of my sister's. We are blessed indeed!
I hope you all are having some success in finding your daily dose of chocolate.:) Today I took a break from home schooling (which I do not frequently do) and went with my sister and her kids to Greenfield Village. I've got to say, we are fortunate to live in close proximity to some great museums! The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village is a GREAT place to go to see Americana/Early American life. AND it was terrific to spend time with my sister and her crew! We haven't seen each other in WAY too long!:) So, my chocolate for the day was a chance to gab with my sister face-to-face and to see my children play with their cousins (again, been way too long). What a beautiful day to do it as well. God is good!

Friday chocolate...

It's Friday at last and my husband is back from a week-long work trip. So glad to have him home. And pizza. I'm glad for pizza. I think pizza is the world's most perfect food. Especially from Jet's (my pity if you haven't had it). Detroit-style pizza (I know it doesn't have the fame of Chicago-style but...) is so good! Another piece of chocolate for me is good deals and one of those deals is the B&N Reading program. Your child reads 8 books and gets a free book for it!:) I hope you found a piece of chocolate for this day.

Reading chocolate...

My "chocolate" from the day (other than the brownie and the two Dove dark chocolate with almonds promises) is the fact that my kids LOVE to read. After gymnastics (girls) and Parkour (boy), we took a trip to the library and the car was silent the rest of the way to our home. Teach them to read and you give them the world!

Ever look back...?

Ugh. As I've looked back on my first posts, they seem kind of...harsh. IDK. Not what I'm going for and not where I want to dwell. It's easy to criticize but harder to lift up. And that's what a little chocolate is for, right? So, here's what I think. I think I'm going to look for that little bit of chocolate from the day, that piece of positivity, that flash of encouragement or goodness that happened and dwell on that. After all, "whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things" (Phil. 4:8).
So...Today we got my daughter's Stanford testing results back. Sometimes as a homeschooler, it's hard to tell what's getting through (especially if your style doesn't include a lot of tests). We've made the decision the last two years to get the kids tested (starting in third grade you can get it done online through Abeka). Last year, her results in math were disappointing to us. Not because she was behind but because we felt she could be doing better. As we explained to her, the issue is not how well she did but how well she could be doing. Fast forward to this year and there is a marked improvement! On a day when we start to questioning things (because while I was schooling the older three, the youngest two were drawing with markers on the window sill), we get a big boost of "good on ya". And I'm grateful to God for that.
So, what's your "little bit of chocolate" from the day? Post below!:)
